What is 7-OH?
7-hydroxymitragynine, often called 7-OH, is a compound associated with kratom. The FDA has warned that concentrated 7-OH products can cause serious harm and has raised concerns about novel potent opioid products sold online and in smoke shops, gas stations, and other retail locations.

Identify exactly what was used
- Photograph every side of the label, including ingredients, concentration, warnings, and lot codes.
- Keep the product, packaging, receipt, shipping material, and purchase confirmation.
- Record the retailer, website address, purchase date, and payment method.
- Preserve advertisements, social posts, emails, and claims about effects or safety.
- Document the amount used, timing, symptoms, and treatment.
Labels may use different terminology
Look for terms such as 7-OH, 7-hydroxymitragynine, enhanced, concentrated, extract, or alkaloid content. Do not assume that a product labeled “kratom” is chemically equivalent to traditional leaf material.
Legal review considerations
A review may examine the product’s contents and concentration, labeling, warnings, marketing, seller, manufacturer, medical evidence, other exposures, and the law of the relevant state. No single fact guarantees a claim.
